Director of Growth & BD

Agile Pharma Solutions is an independent healthcare communications agency built for a changing healthcare landscape. We partner with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to develop meaningful education, communications, and support solutions that help healthcare professionals and patients make informed decisions.

Unlike traditional agencies, Agile combines seasoned healthcare communications expertise with the speed, flexibility, and personal attention of an independent organization. We work collaboratively with clients to develop thoughtful, strategically sound solutions without the layers, bureaucracy, or unnecessary complexity often associated with larger agencies.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an entrepreneurial, relationship-driven Director of Growth & Business Development to strengthen our market presence and help shape Agile’s next chapter.

Overview of the Role

This role will partner with Agile’s leadership team to define priority accounts, shape outreach strategy, and build a disciplined business development function that supports sustainable growth.

This is a high-impact role for an experienced business development professional who understands pharmaceutical and biotech clients and can translate relationships, market insight, and unmet needs into qualified opportunities.

The Director of Growth & Business Development will identify, cultivate, and close new opportunities while collaborating with Agile’s strategic, creative, and clinical teams to develop compelling solutions for prospective clients.

The right person will bring an established network and a demonstrated track record of winning business within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or healthcare organizations, along with the entrepreneurial mindset to build a growth engine rather than simply manage an existing book of business.

Key Responsibilities

Success will be measured by pipeline strength, conversion of qualified opportunities into new client engagements, quality of prospective-client relationships, and alignment with Agile’s strategic focus and service capabilities.

Drive New Business Growth

  • Develop and execute a targeted business development strategy aligned with Agile’s growth objectives

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with priority pharmaceutical and biotechnology prospects

  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities, advancing prospects through the complete business development lifecycle from initial outreach through close

  • Identify opportunities within existing client relationships for expanded services and strategic partnerships

  • Assess prospective clients’ objectives, challenges, organizational structures, and priorities

  • Translate client needs into opportunities for Agile's capabilities across healthcare communications, HCP education, patient education and support, and related services

Lead the Business Development Process

  • Lead discovery conversations and identify where Agile can provide meaningful value

  • Develop compelling proposals, presentations, capabilities materials, and RFP responses in partnership with Agile's internal teams

  • Lead pitch strategy and presentation development from initial opportunity through close

  • Collaborate with strategic, creative, clinical, and client-service leaders to develop differentiated solutions

  • Manage proposal timelines, budgets, pricing, and contract negotiations in partnership with Agile leadership

  • Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting, and business development activity within the company's CRM and reporting systems

Build Relationships & Represent Agile

  • Establish trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations

  • Represent Agile at industry meetings, conferences, networking events, and other relevant forums

  • Track market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities within healthcare communications

  • Serve as an ambassador for Agile’s independent agency model and clearly articulate how Agile differs from larger healthcare communications agencies

Contribute to Agile's Growth Strategy

  • Work with leadership to prioritize target markets, companies, and therapeutic areas

  • Share market intelligence and client feedback to inform Agile’s services and positioning

  • Help build a scalable business development process for continued growth

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in business development, sales, account leadership, or a related role within healthcare communications, pharmaceutical marketing, biotechnology, or a closely related industry

  • Demonstrated success generating and closing new business

  • Established relationships within pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology organizations

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical commercial, medical affairs, and/or patient-support landscape

  • Experience leading RFPs, pitches, proposals, and contract negotiations

  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand client challenges and translate them into compelling solutions

  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take ownership and get things done

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with decision-makers and influencers within pharmaceutical and biotech companies

  • Experience working within an independent or entrepreneurial agency environment

  • A consultative rather than transactional approach to business development

  • Experience using CRM and business development tools to manage outreach, pipeline activity, forecasting, and reporting
